AMS Member and Princeton Professor Simon Morrison recently published an article in TIME about this year's presidential candidates and their playlists:

Also, I'm going to start using the word snarkatariat as frequently as possible.

  1. Nifty! But too bad he didn't see fit to acknowledge the excellent work other musicologists are doing on the dedicated campaign-music public-scholarship site Trax on the Trail (http://www.traxonthetrail.com/) ...

  2. My thoughts exactly. Trax on the Trail has been up and running since at least the spring, is collaborative, and represents music scholars from a number of disciplines and backgrounds. How about some love for that?

  3. The Trax database indexes thousands of videos, press items and academic articles that are relevant to the queston of music's role in the election, an excellent resource for anyone conducting research in campaign music.

  4. Be aware that the Library of Congress classification manual has a shelf listing for campaign songs in which—in theory at least—all such material is shelved.
